We love this trail system in southern Indiana. I can’t compete with mtbproject.com on specific trail details….. but what you do need to know is you will have a tough time finding better trails in the surrounding states. Designed by Hoosier Mountain Bike Association and named an an IMBA Epic ride in 2011, the trails are fast, flowing, hardpacked, and well, just flat out fun.
You can absolutely tear up the easier portions of the trail system, will clip out a lot (at least I have to) on the expert trails. Don’t let the fact that you’re in Indiana fool you; there is a good deal of climbing on the trails, but nothing steep.
You can stay/camp in the park (good luck getting a weekend spot, plan ahead), stay in nearby Nashville (crowded), or stay over in Columbus (cool little town) or Bloomington which are both about 15ish miles away. Don’s miss Bloomingfood’s East location in Bloomington for groceries and anything from their deli. Drink microbrewed IPA’s and chow on pizza at Big Woods Brewing Company in Nashville and then fill up again the next morning at the Artists Colony for breakfast. Muddy Boots also has great breakfast and coffee. Stay at Indigo Hotel in Columbus and go to Zwanzigz for pizza or calzones and nano-brewed beer, for fine dining go to Smith’s Row.
Nearby Nebo Ridge trail isn’t technically part of Brown County State Park but its worth riding as well. Have lunch at Story Inn after your ride.
